Do you think the JW's ever will or could go the Mormon route?

what i mean is the mormon's have their own set of wacky beliefs and are a pretty insular group, engage in a form of door to door ministry but don't discourage higher education.

in fact, the handful of mormons i went to school with were pushed to excel academically and go to college.

yeah there are ex mormons but for a great many, going to university doesn't turn them into atheists.

There are various factions of Mormons, just like there are multiple factions of Millerites. Ba’hai, Seventh Day Adventist, JW, Bible Students etc are to Millerism what LDS, FLDS, Firstborn, Reorganized etc are for Mormons.

I’m sure the FLDS doesn’t allow their kids to go to college either and they also kick those that don’t accommodate out. But they continue to exist as long as there are girls being born for the leader. The JWs don’t have to moderate as long as there are enough people to fund the lifestyle of the 7.

Smoking gun GB can’t get out of this one

here in 2022 if anyone says anything against the vaccines even a little bit you are almost apostate.. someone once mentioned all vaccinated sports stars collapsing and someone else said not to speak badly about the gb or by extension jehovah.. the gb can’t get out of this one, it’s gone too far.

it’s now the case that if you speak against the vaccines you are speaking against the gb and by extension jehovah .

We just had a family member had 3 miscarriages, 2 of which were ectopic after being forced the shot for her job, she got 3 healthy pregnancies before, she is still young and healthy, even her doctors are saying it’s extremely rare for ectopic pregnancies to happen multiple times in a row.

Useless Majors

i was passing through a very liberal college town recently during rush hour.

so, i decided to stop for some refreshment at a fine-looking establishment and wait for traffic to die down.

a young waitress waited on me who probably could have been stevie nicks twin when she was young.

I wouldn’t say many STEM majors are useless. I would say polisci is pretty much useless.

There are a lot of academic studies that would do better if it weren’t a degree as much as a field of study. Like the example, shouldn’t be that specific, she should get a degree in anthropology and then specialize her PhD on the subject.

Most of the liberal arts things (majors in the arts, music, dance, painting etc) you shouldn’t get a degree for, but you would be better apprenticing for a master, interning at a museum or a research assistant to an actual lab and then the wheat and chaff would be much better separated.

if laws were passed compelling the church to report crimes to government authorities and there was no legal way around it and the church was forced to comply and did comply, nobody would confess their sins.

it wouldn’t stop people from committing crimes, they just wouldn’t tell their church about it.

Clergy-penitent privilege is pretty much like attorney-client privilege. There is a lot you can tell your pastor, but some things they legally and ethically have to reveal.

We all know the WTBTS says they do one thing in public and then recommend other action in secret. So did the Catholic Church and other organizations, and now they are paying the price.

I personally think that anyone hiding crimes against someone else’s natural rights from the victim or the community at large, should be held liable as an associate to the crimes. I however don’t think many things should be illegal though, if you didn’t violate someone’s natural rights then I don’t believe it is a strict crime and then attorney client privilege or clergy penitent privilege kicks in where you should be able to confess to “sins” in order to get those laws overturned, or get personal help (eg addiction) from the community.

Did Jesus have a Y chromosome?

and so did jesus —because he was human.

so let’s say jesus took a dna test, his mitochondrial dna would go back to eve but interestingly jc also would inherit dna from sinful adam on his mother’s side because his mother mary passed on to jc dna from both adam and eve.

Adam supposedly had XY chromosomes, Eve was created from Adam's X chromosomes, so basically Eve was Adam's clone with a duplicated chromosome.

If sin is inherited on the Y chromosome, then all females would still be perfect, because females have XX and thus no "sin chromosomes", that is therefore incorrect.

As far as Jesus is concerned, he'd get the X chromosome from his mother and another Y chromosome would have to be generated from whole cloth. Females can't be cloned into males, whereas male (this has been tested on frogs) could technically be cloned with 2 X chromosomes activated and thus get a female clone.

He would thus carry sin in him at least, even if the genes for 'sin' were magically turned off. So it is entirely possible that had Jesus reproduced (the Mary Magdalene story), his children would either immediately or in a few generations have the sin genes reactivated, because they'd be diluting the activation of those genes.

i was thinking a bit about this the other day.

ct russell, from what i remember about him, kinda seemed like a genuine, nice(ish) guy, although he had a few eccentric but harmless ideas.. during the russell era jws (actually bible students) could still celebrate christmas, worship in other churches if there was no kingdom hall available, and accept blood transfusions.. then after russell died, along came rutherford - a major league a-hole, for sure.. rutherford had plenty of eccentric ideas but at least some of them weren't/aren't harmless.

some have been long forgotten about - jesus depicted without a beard, the plan to rename the names of the week because names such as thursday (thor's day) is pagan, the articles about the 'dangers' of aluminium, etc.. one key contribution of rutherford which does a lot of harm is no blood transfusions, even in life-threatening situations.. another is shunning, something which never occurred under russell, or at least was much milder.. rutherford has a lot to answer for, i reckon ....

One thing leads to the other. CT Russell was accused by his wife of having sex with their underage foster child, and many others admitted him being cruel towards people in his immediate vicinity. He was a con-man at best and a swindling child molester psychopath at worst.

Not that that proves anything, but most historians find this person to be very unimportant (as are JWs today) so he is largely forgotten, most of what we do know is either from public records or rewritten by the WTBTS or a few detractors, so I doubt we will ever get the true picture.

You have to be some kind of special to put yourself above even God himself to become the Supreme Leader of any kind of cult, and from reading contemporary accounts and the old publications, that is what he made himself out to be and many people called it a cult. It wouldn’t surprise me a lot of things were swept under the rug by believers at the time as they do today and there may be paper records of investigations of authorities that ran into stonewalling by believers but now are slowly rotting away because this person is wholly unimportant to the majority of the world.

Note that the WTBTS / JW religion was split between Rutherford and Russelites (who are still around) after Russell’s death. It is notable that Russel himself split the religion from the Bible Students before him.

The JW were the result of I believe a third or even fourth schism (if you include Barbour’s Zion’s Watch Tower) of the original WTBTS/IBS and approximately 3/4 of the group did not follow Rutherford in the last schism.

There is sufficient evidence to show that he was a con-man (selling things like Miracle Wheat) and he had serious issues with the ladies resulting in his marriage and he liked to undercut and cheat his business associates out of money every turn he could. There are plenty of books to find on archive.org that talk about Russell’s dealings and ministry, he claimed, like the JW today to have knowledge of Ancient Greek, Latin and other languages but basically rip off other translations and put their own meanings in it. I remember he was put on trial for something and presented with a piece of a Bible fragment in an ancient language and neither recognized it nor could translate it. That is well described in court documents which one could look up if they were so inclined.

Polio is spreading in New York waters

according to news reports, the polio virus has been spreading in ny waters since april of this year.

polio is a crippling disease that affects the bones.

i actually know someone that had polio and is crippled shrinking the length of his arm and leg.

It’s not spreading, it’s present in waste water, which means people are carriers. Note that this polio virus is a vaccine-resistant variant so the reason that it is “back” is that it never was there to begin with, it is new. Will it affect the next generation of children, who knows, but what is clear is that it hasn’t been eradicated.

One person got infected from another person that indeed came from a third world country where they give live vaccines, so they were infected by a third world vaccine and came to the US, then spread it to another person.

My Prediction Regarding New Space Telescope That Will See Back to 100 Million Years From the Big Bang

a new space telescope launched a few days age that will supposedly be able to see to within 100 million years of the big bang.

wow... only 100 million years from the big bang.

that is pretty early given the 12 billion year age of the universe assigned by scholars who adhere to naturalism.

You proclaim victory on a headline without understanding the details of what the headline says. You are a fraud as much as the WTBTS is when it comes to scientific reporting.

What JWST found was stars and galaxies forming much earlier. You claimed initially that they would be fully formed and organized like they are today (a static universe).

Not only is that proven false, the stars in your headline came from much smaller spaces, galaxies 100 times smaller than our own, which aren’t fully formed yet, which previously we would’ve thought would not have enough mass to form stars. That only shows that things clumped together earlier. You also have to have read the fact that these stars showed oxygen, as expected given their age, on the spectrometry which does support the hypothesis that earlier stars forged many of the heavier elements we know today and were nothing like the universe we know today, again the discovery you claim as a victory actually undermines your argument of a static early universe created in place.
